8th Theatre Olympics
“The theatre is so endlessly fascinating because it’s so accidental. It’s so much like life.”
The Theatre Olympics was established in 1993 in Delphi, Greece and now it has become an international theatre festival presenting some of the achievements of the greatest theatre practitioners from around the world. It is also seen as a platform for theatrical exchange, a place for students and masters, where a dialogue despite ideological, culture and language differences is encouraged and most importantly connecting the past, present, and future together.
This year, the 8th edition of this festival is hosted by India and organized by Nation School of Drama under the aegis of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. And the Title is “THE FLAG OF FRIENDSHIP”.
‘Flag of Friendship’ is a celebration of universal friendship and, just as Indra’s flag acts as a protector and symbol of the Indian theatre tradition since time immemorial, Theatre Olympics 2018 will hoist the flag of friendship and human values throughout the world.
The event commenced on 17th of February in Delhi and will move across 17 Indian cities and the closing ceremony will take place on 8th April in Mumbai. You can check out the schedule at http://www.8ththeatreolympics.nsd.gov.in/en/schedule-3.php
