Artists of Hoot - Ankush Bahuguna
Our next Artist of Hoot is quite famous among girls, you must have seen him in MensXP's famous segment called, "The Couple Sharma Show", playing a role of a cute boyfriend. Presenting to you, Ankush Bahuguna. He is 25 year-old, graduated as an architect from Sushant School of Art & Architecture. Born and brought up in Delhi. Ankush works as a video content creator, actor and director for Channels like MensXP and Restless Mind.
Ankush is a multi-potentialist, just like a glass spectrum from which the seven colors of rainbow diversifies when exposed to a ray of light.
Life always take a sudden turn and leads you to an unexpected path. Similarly, we asked Ankush about the turns his life took and brought him in this industry. "When I was studying architecture from Sushant School of Art & Architecture, I wouldn't have ever thought I'd be creating online content as a writer, actor, and director a few years down the line, with absolutely no formal training. But sometimes, things have a way of falling in place and here I am", he said.
From being an architecture student to making us fall in love with his entertaining skills, Ankush has come a long way in his life. He was an introvert and socially awkward kid throughout his childhood days. The transition to become an entertainer with lack of self-confidence has been a little bit of an existential crisis for him. He told us, how acting gave him confidence to look straight in the eyes of life, "There was a time when, I lacked confidence and courage in life. Acting helped me in finding the lost confidence, made me believe in myself. It gave me a strange fulfilling feeling in life. While acting helped in all this, writing brought me closer to the kid, I once was. A kid who could do anything he wanted to. A kid who was carefree, who did not pay attention to what people have to say. As much as I love acting, I feel being a writer is still an essential part of me that I shall never let go off".
It is not easy to be an entertainer, you always have to be on your toes with a content that not only keeps your audience happy and glued to you, but, something they relate to, that clickbait connection. Ankush shares his experience, "Entertaining an audience is hard. It's a very vulnerable state to be in. You cannot afford to not be comfortable with who you are. And for someone like me, who's been sort of a misfit since childhood for his interests, it can be a little daunting. Now imagine that to be your career, with no plan B to fall back on. But I'm getting better, at least I hope so. Being an entertainer feels like the right thing to do, no matter how hard it's been. I can't tell you how good I am. What I can tell you is how good it feels to be doing what comes naturally to me. And while that's not all that matters, it does help me sleep at night".
It's not always necessary that you get answers to every question you throw at life. We asked Ankush about his approach towards this, he says, " I'm just going to do my thing, hop on from one thing to the other, have my feet in as many boats as there can be and hope I can at least make people laugh, even if I fall flat on my face".
