1. College of Art, Delhi University

Established in 1942, CoA offers graduate and post-graduate degrees in Fine Arts. The undergraduate course, BFA, consists of one foundation year, which provides basic training in art and design, and then three years focused on a specialization of the student’s choice. Emphasis is given on practical studio work as well as theory and research in the chosen specialization. College of Art is a well reputed institution. Its alumni include renowned artists like Anupam Sud, Manjit Bawa and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award-winning costume designer Amba Sanyal.

2. National Institute of Fine Arts

Founded by Mrs. Renu Khera in 2005, the institute is a part of Sanyam Educational & Social Welfare Society which is in turn affiliated to Raja Mansingh Tomar Music and Arts University, Madhya Pradesh. On their website, Nifa claims to encourage open minds and provides student support services and counselling. The courses range from month-long certificate courses to diplomas of duration as long as 2 years, all in Fine Arts. Preparatory classes for entrance examination of National Institute of Design are also available. There are separate modules for children as well.

3.Kalabhumi

Another institute that caters to students of diverse ages, Kalabhumi stresses on the value of experience, gurus and good tools. Classes are available for children, entrance preparation and there is a diploma in fine arts with two specializations – painting and applied art. There is a separate diploma for children from 5-17 years. Calligraphy is also taught here.

4.The Art Hub

The Art Hub was founded by artist Bhavna Minocha with the motto to give recognition and a platform to upcoming artists. It boasts of a spacious studio complete with an art gallery. The Art Hub has a variety of courses to choose from, including sculpture and photography, and has the option of private classes as well. There is also a “Mom and Me” art class for toddlers. A “Study Aborad” program for aspiring art students who wish to study fine arts abroad is available, covering all areas from portfolio preparation to visa counselling.

5. Himanshu Art Institute

Established in 1997 by Mr. Mohit Manocha, Himanshu Art Institute offers a large variety of courses to choose from. According to its website, it is the only institute in India that has 151 art and craft techniques to choose from. Indian traditional paintings, fashion illustrations, calligraphy, clay modelling and water color painting are few of their courses. Certificate courses of 3 and 6 months and diplomas of 1 and 2 years are available. A UGC-recognized 5-year Diploma in Fine Arts is also provided by the institute. It conducts competitions, quizzes and organizes exhibitions as well.
