Artists Of Hoot - Tanya Nambiar

Tanya Nambiar is a 30-year old musician who was born in Dehradun and brought up in Delhi. Tanya grew up between two different cultures, she's a Punjabi girl by heart and a south Indian by her graceful features. She graduated from Gargi College, University of Delhi.

Lucky are those who know from the beginning, in which direction they have to row their boat to and have a clear vision of their zenith. Not everyone who wanders is a wanderer and not everyone who is lost is clueless. Similarly, Tanya knew where she was heading. She had her goal placed and pinned. We talked to her about how music came to her, she said, "From being my hobby, music became my passion, something I enjoyed. Something that would put me at ease. After a few years of working in the corporate industry, I realized life is too short and one should do what drives them, a rush of passion that takes them closer to their souls and their dreams. Therefore, I gave my passion a shot". It becomes difficult to put your foot into something new and leave behind the monotonous crap you were tangled in. Be it a 9-5 corporate job or "you're-a-woman"-societal norms. It may be hard but not impossible. Tanya tells us about the first risky step she took, " After I realized that jobs and 4 by 4 cubicle is not the place where I belong, I quit everything and took up music full time. It's never too late to take up your passion. And what is life without passion? It's a bland and forgetful journey. I wanted to live my dream and music was my gateway to dreams. The biggest risk I ever took but totally worth it".

Tanya being a singer and not belonging from a musical background, understands the importance of appreciation and the blood and sweat it takes to be recognized among thousands of budding and blooming local artists. We asked her opinion on the importance of promoting local art, to which she said, "I think today we have a bigger audience that supports local art. Even if you don't have a stage, you always have social media to showcase your work, so this is a great time to display your skills and talent. Artists who have just started and are thinking of choosing their passion as their staircase to dreams, have a bigger spectrum of opportunities". We got hold of Tanya from a recent event that she performed at and were taken aback by her on-stage presence which she makes look so simple, as if she's been doing it all her life while completely enjoying herself in that moment.
