Artists Of Hoot - Moha Vashishtha

“Passion is a compelling force helping a person excel in that one thing, which he thinks he is good at”.

Moha Vashishtha

Moha Vashishtha, a 24- year old engineer, quotes this while she talks about her journey and endeavours. Born and brought up in the holy city of Uttarakhand, Rishikesh, She is a writer, a book reviewer, and a hardcore bibliophile. Moha has done more than 20 book reviews, including the likes of "The Kite Runner".

Talking about her education, she says, “I was an above average student throughout my school and has always been the one engrossed in my studies”. She considers herself unlucky, because, she did not have any passion to get over the hangover of academics. Throughout her school and college days, she kept academics at the forefront.

Engineering occupied more than half of her time and the rest was made sure by the 9-6 government job she joined in after her graduation in 2015. Though, Moha reveals that the only reason she found a job for herself was just to get off the tag of dependency and stand on her own feet, get independent. “I never believed I was made for it”, she confessed.

Her story intrigued us. We asked her some questions, to which she said, “Slowly and steadily I got inclined to books, not syllabus books thankfully this time. I think, maybe it was destined to. I thank, Rajat, my best friend, to inspire and encourage me so much that I finally became a fierce reader, frankly speaking, he encourages me on an everyday basis. I feel that a person needs a constant source of inspiration to pursue one’s dreams, and, well, here I am. I gathered the courage to start a blog and I think it has been one of the best things I have personally done in order to do justice to my art."

Nothing is a piece of cake, be it writing or taking forward a passion as simple as reading. As flowery as this path looks it is equally challenging to keep a balance between work life and one’s passion.

“But that’s the pleasure of following one’s passion; challenges don’t exhaust you. They give you more energy to follow it. And it’s true that passion makes your day to day life worth living, it elevates your soul”, said Moha. Her never ending love for reading and madness for books, gave her the strength to maintain the balance between her job and her desire.

Talking about the best part of reading, she states, “Now I find myself in a happy place every time and that’s all because I have found my solace between the brown and white pages. I wake up every day planning books to read, keeping aside a couple of hours just to read, thanks to my 9-6 job. It makes my hair stand on its ends while doing so. Reading, for me, is that wind which strikes my hair and face when I stand on a seat of a speeding sunroof car. It gives me a sense of freedom, a sense of ecstasy, a sense of possessing wings, a sense of LIFE”.
